| ... no matter
what the opposition! |
No matter where you go or what you do ...
If you are available to God AND trusting in God ...
God will come through for you ...
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most
High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust."
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler
And from the perilous pestilence.
He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
Ps 91:1-4
And God is true to His Word!
I had just begun my journey to Uganda over Kenya,
with a very short connection in Nairobi (45 minutes) which would have
been fine ...
... if only we were not already delayed by 30 minutes even before
take-off in Zurich!
The result was that we landed in Nairobi after the onward flight had
already closed.
I still had to get through immigration, customs ... check-in and pass
through the baggage check!
Simply impossible! ... and the next flight was
only a day later!
As I rushed off the plane ... running up the ramp, knowing it was
rather futile ...
... there at the top of the ramp, stood the tall figure of James
Omwakwe ...
James happens to work at the Nairobi Airport, and I had had opportunity
to help him
whilst in transit in Zurich to obtain a visa when his had been
cancelled.
Although I had mailed him that I was passing through, he had not
answered ...
... and there he was like an angel from heaven.
He had already contacted the onward flight, telling them to wait ...
... grabbed my luggage, ushered me through immigration, customs and
check-in ...
... onto the onward flight, now already 10 minutes delayed, waiting for
me!

Praise God, He always comes through ...
no matter what the opposition!
... and that was only the beginning...!
During my last trip to Western Kenya,
I was introduced to Pastor Nelson Wesamoyo of Mbale in Uganda,
whilst ministering in Lugulu.

At the time I was introducing the Covenant
Disciples Bible Courses to pastors in the Lugulu area.
Pastor Nelson was very impressed with the concept and material, and
wanted to learn more about it,
so much so that he invited me to travel to Uganda to hold a seminar
there ...
... and to introduce the Bible Courses, training plan, growth and unity
concepts to pastors in Mbale.

Map of Eastern Uganda and Western Kenya.
(Lugulu is near Kitale in Kenya, and Mbale left top in Uganda)
| ...despite all
opposition! |
Considering the distance to Mbale, the border
crossing with all its formalities etc, we decided to start well before
sunrise.
Our vehicle had been serviced, motor, wheels and
whatever else checked.
The plan was to be in Mbale by 10am latest so that we would have ample
time for the scheduled meetings.
The only factor that we did not consider in our plan, was the
opposition we were about to experience...!
We had not been on the road for an hour when a strange noise and a
shudder attracted our attention.
The first thought that crossed my mind (obviously from the Holy Spirit)
was ... a wheel is loose and about to fall off!
Believe it or not, instead of acting on it, I merely kept on pondering
the thought ...
Luckily soon after that we decided to stop and investigate only to find
that the left front wheel was about to fall off!

The studs were ruined and we had to stop to have
them replaced ...
... an hour later we crossed the border ... heading for
Mbale!
Or ... so we thought ...

30 km into Uganda, the right back wheel started
making a noise, and was also about to fall off!
This time the studs were so loose we had to have them welded ...
and luckily for us, we checked the left back wheel as well ...
... for it also was about to do the same!
That one wheel comes loose ... well it's kind of acceptable.
That a second wheel comes loose ... is no longer a coincidence.
But a third wheel ???
... Clearly someone did not want us to get to Mbale!
But praise God, He always comes through ... no matter
what the opposition!

Finally... (over 3 hours late) the outskirts of
Mbale ...
... and a still smiling Pastor Nelson awaiting our arrival in front of
his church ...

No time for formalities ... just one quick
photograph, and on with the meetings!

And what a great time we had ...
Pastor Nelson and his team, together with 25 other pastors from the
area ...
... had waited a long time, since I me with Pastor Nelson in August '02
in Lugulu ...
... to hear all about the Covenant Disciples Bible Courses ...
... to find out what we are all about ...
and ... to start the Bible Courses themselves,
having now received the Course material and training kits.
With a promise to return as soon as the pastors have all finished the
courses,
to help them launch Bible Training Centers in their own Churches ...
... so ...
... with no time to waste, knowing that the border post closes at dusk
...
... we headed for Malaba on the Uganda/Kenya border.

The first thing we did was to thank God for His
provision that day ...
... for having kept us safe and making sure that the meetings went
ahead as planned ...
We finally breathed a sigh of relief ...
... and realised, that we had not eaten anything since the previous day!
McDonalds, Burger King? Where???
So we settled for some East African Fast Food ...
Whole Fried Fish in newspaper ...

All in all, it was a most successful trip ...
We accomplished all we set out to do and more ...
... in spite of all the opposition we had!
Praise God, He always comes through ... when we put our
trust in Him!
Lugulu was the next stop ...
I had planned 3 meetings in Lugulu with Pastors Solomon & Elizabeth
Wakhungu ...

and a group of 14 pastors from the surrounding
area ...

But the night before going there, I was attacked
by something like a stomach flu ...
... I had stomach cramps, with pains in my back and legs ...
... and spent the night on the toilet!
The next morning, after having slept about 3 hours at the most ...
with no intention of canceling the planned meetings ...
... I said "Lord, thank you that my stomach is healed in Jesus name!
... I am going to minister as planned, in your strength and anointing!"

So armed with my Bible, my teaching material, a
bottle of water ...
... and God's anointing ...
I had three great meetings and sat down to a wonderful meal that
evening!
Praise God, He always comes through ...
no matter what the opposition ...
... if you put your trust in Him!
| Next time... a
question of unity! |
