Covenant
means ... to
be
there for another ...
To be a strength where the other is weak!
... or in simple terms ... To do what the other cannot do! As
children of God, we have a covenant with Him ...
and there are things that God wants us to do for Him ... ... but what are those things? What does God want us to do for Him? What works can I do for Him?
Knowing how important that is ... Jesus not only said we would do things for God ... ... but said ... "Most
assuredly, I say to you,
he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. ---
John
14:12
An
awesome promise …
Jesus said we will be able to fulfill our covenant ... ... to do the works He did and even greater works! But what does it really mean? What are those works ... those greater works? Normally we start by considering, what is there I can do for God? ... what great work can I do? But is that what God is looking for? Is that what would glorify the Father? Where do we start?
What do we do? Well, what does God say about that ... What is God looking for? For
the eyes of the LORD run to and fro
throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. --- 2
Chron. 16:9
God is looking for people with loyal hearts towards Him ...
... those who want to do His will from the heart! Those whose works on the outside ... ... are based on what is on the inside!
God wants to confirm His covenant with us, He is looking to see where He can perform His promises … He is looking to see where He can act on our behalf … God is looking for a loyal heart ... ... a heart that is towards Him! ... a heart that has His character! A heart that is motivated and driven by LOVE! What is a heart that is towards God? A heart motivated and driven by love? He who does not love
does not know God,
for God is love. --- 1 John 4:8 If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen --- 1 John 4:20 For
God the matter is quite simple …
Do you have His character, His Love (to give) in you? And is that love active in your life? That is a reflection of what is in your heart … That is a heart that is loyal to God … … a heart that demonstrates God’s character … a life that shows others what God really is like … … LOVE!

God is serious about what we do and who we represent in the natural … Because … What we do in the natural is a picture of who and what He is in the spiritual … The Bible gives us a perfect picture of how to act on our covenant with God ... … of how to reach out to others for Him ... in His love and with His heart … What does it profit,
my brethren, if someone says
he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, "Depart in peace, be warmed and filled," but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? --- James
2:14-17
God is saying to us … Is there a need? ... You
fill it!
Is there a lack? ... You bring the supply! ![]() Unless you act in the natural, physical realm … God is not glorified … but dishonored! God is quite simply saying ... Don’t go pray for someone to be blessed of God … Don’t pray that God will supply their needs … ... And say to them, God bless you brother … bye, bye! God says, if you do that you're a hypocrite and a liar … … and He does not want to be part of that … at all! It is not an expression of His heart … … and He does not want us to present a twisted or warped image of Him to the world! In fact God says ... "Don't even tell them you
know Me,
... they may just think I am like that!" Remember ... Who ... you are representing …
Whose ... image you are projecting … Whose ... power you should be transmitting!
God does
not expect you to go in your strength ...
... as He said to the Apostle Paul ... And He said to me,
"My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." --- 2Cor. 12:9 God
says ...
You be the hand ... let Me be the strength! You be the vessel ... let Me be the supply! Yes, God has limited Himself to man on this earth ... But as man reaches out for God ... ... all of God's power and provision are released! Give, and it will be given
to you:
good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you." --- Luke 6:38 God's
provision is available
but we have to release it by reaching out for God ... ... with what we have ... So that God ... ... provide the increase! So that God ... ... can break the famine! Jan D vander Merwe

Teaching
others God's principles ...
... and promises! Talking about what God can ... ... and wants to do! And ... Proclaiming God's love to all ... ... is important and necessary ... But ... Nothing takes the place of expressing ... ... God's character, God's heart ... Nothing takes the place of Living Love! In mid July President Kibaki of Kenya went on television to announce that Kenya was facing a national disaster. Over 3.3 million people in Kenya are facing starvation due to an acute food shortage brought on by the drought and subsequent bad harvests. Our first reaction at Covenant Ministries was to get involved ... practically involved! As James chapter 2 in the Bible tells us ... ... faith without works is dead! That simply means that praying about a situation, ... is important! Yet, without reaching out with real tangible help ... ... it will not change the situation at all! God's heart is that our every need be met ... and that we should be the vessels that He can work through to meet those needs ... That is covenant ... and that is what Covenant Ministries is all about. ![]() Pastor
Roberts Orphanage Kitale
In Kitale, Covenant Ministries took food to the Roberts Childrens Orphanage where over a hundred children were going hungry. |
In Matisi,
together with the support of some local traders, Covenant
Ministries provided food for about 260 families, some of whom were on
the point of starvation.

In
James chapter 2 we also read ...
...
that faith and works, work together ...
And as much as it is God's intention that our every physical need be met, even more importantly God wants our spiritual needs to be met. We therefore also took the opportunity to pray for the sick and minister God's love to those present ... of which about 150 responded to the alter call. ![]() Famine
